Glen Lang, Founder
Glen Lang is the founder and CEO of Capitol Broadband and its subsidiary Capitol Infrastructure (dba Connexion Technologies). Lang has been in the technology marketing business for 25 years. He has held positions with Sun Microsystems, Control Data Corporation and Intergraph.
In the 1990's, Lang handled mergers and acquisitions consulting for Fortune 500 companies and participated as a founder in two communication company startups that were venture capital funded, one of which went public.
In November of 1997, Lang was elected to the Cary Town Council on a balanced growth platform. He was then elected Mayor of Cary, NC from 1999 until 2003. While serving, he became involved in the assessment of advanced communications to serve the town of Cary and commissioned a survey on the viability of Fiber to the Home technology. The demand for services demonstrated by this study led to the development of Capitol Broadband in 2002. Lang holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
Peter Ley, Chief Financial Officer
Peter Ley is Chief Financial Officer of Connexion Technologies. He is responsible for financial management of the company including: fundraising, financial reporting, controls and financial strategy.
Ley is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in the finance and communications sectors. Prior to joining Connexion Technologies in November 2007, Ley was a Senior Media & Telecom Investment Banker with Bank of America Securities. In this position, he provided many leading U.S. communications companies with financial and advisory services.
Before joining Bank of America, Ley was the Chief Financial Officer of Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises Inc., an operator of incumbent and competitive telecom services in Pennsylvania. Ley holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
Walter Daniels, Chief Legal Officer
Walter Daniels is Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Connexion Technologies. He is responsible for the management of the legal department and all legal affairs of the company. Prior to joining Connexion, Daniels served in private practice as a member of Daniels, Daniels & Verdonik, P.A. and of Ward and Smith, P.A., where he focused on the corporate, financial and intellectual property needs of technology-based emerging growth companies. He has handled matters ranging from pre-start-up counseling, private offerings, venture capital deals and technology licensing, to nine-digit exit transactions involving public companies.
Daniels attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar and North Carolina Fellow where he received a BA with honors and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. In 1979 he received a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy Sciences from Duke University where he attended as a Xerox Fellow. In 1979, he also received a J.D. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the bar for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, and the United States Supreme Court Bar.
Rick Alder, EVP, Operations
Rick Alder is the Executive Vice President of Operations for Connexion Technologies. In this position, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company including field operations, service assurance, marketing, network capacity, strategic applications, service provider selection and oversight and Service Bureau operations.
Alder joined Connexion Technologies in 2006 after seven years with Madison River Communications, one of Connexion's first service providers for voice and data. At Madison River, he served in various capacities including: President of MebTel, one of Madison River's rural telephone companies; Vice President of Marketing and Business Development; Executive Vice President of Madison River's CLEC operations; and as Executive Vice President of Madison River.
Prior to his association with Madison River Communications, Alder worked with Sprint, Centel (Centel Telephone and Centel Business Systems), 3Com/USRobotics, TAMCO, TeleCommute Solutions and Southwestern Bell/AT&T. Alder has over 26 years of experience in the communications industry. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
Carter Steg, EVP, Sales and Corporate Marketing
Carter Steg is the Executive Vice President of Sales and Corporate Marketing for Connexion Technologies. She is responsible for contract management, corporate marketing, and investor relations.
She gained business development experience in the fields of finance, network integration, software development and advertising prior to joining Connexion in 2002. During Connexion Technologies early growth, Steg oversaw a number of company functions including accounting, purchasing, human resources, contract management, marketing and sales.
Recently Steg served on a Bulk Services Panel at the Broadband Properties 2008 conference in Dallas, Texas, as well as the Infotech 2005 Conference on Broadband and the Future of Entertainment in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Steg holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Steve Jones, EVP, Technology
Steve Jones is the Executive Vice President of Technology for Connexion Technologies.
In this position he is responsible for the planning and implementation of systems to support all key business processes. Jones also works with infrastructure service delivery and maintenance for customers and service partners.
Throughout his career, Jones has planned and developed a wide range of IT and communications products and services for a number of industries. Prior to joining Connexion Technologies, Jones was CEO of Synthematix, a provider of enterprise scientific software for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, until its successful sale to Symyx Inc.
Jones holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University in Canada and has completed a number of executive business programs from the Wharton School of Business, Columbia University and Duke University.
Matt Springer, EVP, Corporate Development
Matt Springer is the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development for Connexion Technologies. He is responsible for corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, service provider relations and debt financings.
Prior to joining Connexion Technologies in July 2007, Springer was Vice President and General Counsel for Madison River Communications, the nation's 17th largest telephone company. Springer has also served as the Assistant General Counsel for Rural Telephone Finance Cooperative, a Herndon, Virginia based $4 billion rural telecom financing company.
He worked as Vice President & General Counsel for Integrated Financial Solutions, a Rochester, New York bank consulting company, and served as Counsel to the U.S. House Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Attorney Advisor to the Office of Thrift Supervision. Springer holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Boston University and a J.D. from American University's Washington College of Law.
