FAQs

What are fiber optics?
Fiber optics are strands of thin glass that transmit communication signals at the speed of light. Fiber-Optic wiring replaces the duplicate infrastructure that the telephone and cable companies have installed in the past in a neighborhood setting. Fiber has a higher bandwidth capacity and can easily transmit traditional applications like telephone, television, and Internet, with plenty of capacity left over for applications in the future.
How can I get more information on Connexion's Fiber-optic Solution and availability in my community?
Please use the contact us form contained on this website, and one of our sales representatives for your area will contact you. You may also view the case studies on our various communities to learn more about the services provided by fiber.
Why does Connexion Technologies want an easement?
Connexion Technologies is an infrastructure provider instead of a service provider and requires a private communication easement. The easement also protects Connexion Technologies' investment in the fiber optic infrastructure.
Who is providing the services to my development?
Connexion Technologies has "gold star" regional service providers that they currently work with in various geographic areas. Connexion will choose the service providers for your community based on your customized service needs. Our approach reduces construction complexity and on-going maintenance costs while providing residents in the community with the unique ability to hold service providers accountable to service level and pricing guarantees. The Connexion model is attractive to first rate service providers due to the minimal capital investment required by the service providers, the ease of monitoring the fiber optic network, and ease of providing upgrades to residents with just a tap of the keys instead of rolling a truck. Connexion functions as an agent for the HOA by monitoring the performance of each of the providers. At any time if a provider should fall below service level standards, Connexion can remove a provider and find a new one to service your residents.
Why should we install a fiber-optic network? Will I receive improved services?
Not only will you see significant cost savings, you will have the most comprehensive technology solution available. Technology has become an integral part of our daily lives requiring vast amounts of bandwidth which only fiber-optics can support. It provides virtually unlimited bandwidth to guarantee faster, better services. It also has plenty of bandwidth for emerging technologies such as HD TV, online gaming, medical home monitoring, etc. In addition, FTTH networks have shown to increase home resale value by up to 5%*.
What kind of work will need to be done inside my home?
No physical work is done to the wiring inside the home. We use technology called HCNA (Home Coax Network Adaptor) which allows us to use the existing coaxial cable inside the home to transmit our signals. We connect to the coax on the outside of the home. The only work done inside the home is when the service provider installs a digital television receiver and a small switch for telephone and Internet.
Will I have a satellite dish on my house?
No, the commercial-grade satellite dishes will be located at the Headend easement.
How is the fiber-optic network installed? Will damage be done to my property?
No, we utilize a boring machine that allows us to put the conduit in the ground without digging up all of the streets and walkways. This equipment enables us to avoid affecting existing roads and landscape by digging only in certain places. Equipment is flush mounted in the ground.
What services can currently be delivered over the network?
Internet, Television, Phone, Security
Can I keep my email address when I transfer service?
If you are like many people and use free email services (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) then you will not be affected. If you have an existing email address through your local Internet provider, you will not be able to keep your same address. These addresses are proprietary. If you have an AOL email address, you will have to continue subscribing to their service to retain your current address. This does not mean that they will be your service provider; your Internet service will still be through Connexion's service provider partner.
Is my TiVo compatible with your television offering?
Select TiVo digital DVRs are compatible with the satellite input. However, you have the ability to get an HD DVR through our Service Provider. Additionally you can plug the TiVo into the HD DVR if you like TiVo's functionality.
Who do I contact for support?
The Connexion Call Center at 1-800-205-8698 for all of your product and service needs.
What does future-proof mean?
As more technologies are introduced to the market, they require more bandwidth. High-Definition TV channels, online gaming, IPTV, and other applications we haven't even imagined yet demand huge amounts of bandwidth which only fiber optics can provide. With a pre-existing FTTH connection, your real estate investment will not have to undergo a massive overhaul in the coming years to be compatible with emerging technologies.
